Most hydraulic equipment brands that showed up in the last ten years are catalog companies. They source from whoever's cheapest, slap a logo on, and move on to the next SKU. American Forge and Foundry has been doing this since Kennedy was in office. They design their own products, control their own specs, and stand behind the equipment after the sale. That distinction matters when you're putting a 10 ton jack under a loaded truck.
In 2017, AFF joined the SureWerx family, bringing in broader distribution and deeper corporate resources without changing what made the brand worth buying in the first place. The product philosophy stayed the same. The support infrastructure got bigger.
American Forge and Foundry Product Categories
American Forge and Foundry Floor Jacks
AFF's floor jack lineup covers everything from 2 ton aluminum service jacks for quick automotive work to 20 ton air/hydraulic long chassis jacks built for buses, semis, and heavy construction equipment. If you're lifting heavy vehicles daily, the American Forge and Foundry 10 ton jack (AFF 3135) delivers a 61" long chassis and air/hydraulic operation at 115-200 PSI. Need something lighter? The AFF 3125 5 ton air hydraulic floor jack runs a 56" long chassis with the same dual-mode operation. Both models include automatic overload valves and integrated descent control for safe, controlled lowering.
American Forge and Foundry Transmission Jacks
Pulling transmissions shouldn't require three guys and a prayer. AFF builds transmission jacks from 450 lb capacity entry-level units all the way up to the AFF 3179A 3,000 lb low profile transmission jack with 4-way tilting head and a 6.5" minimum height that slides under trucks most jacks can't touch. The AFF 3102A air assist transmission jack handles 2,000 lbs with two-stage telescopic reach from 37" to 76", making it the go-to for stand-up medium duty truck work.
American Forge and Foundry Shop Presses
From the AFF 820A 20 ton shop press with its eight-level bed adjustment up to the AFF 834 35 ton shop press with air/hydraulic operation and winch-adjustable bed, these presses are built for daily bearing work, bushing removal, and component straightening. AFF's super duty line pushes capacity even further for shops running heavier industrial work.
American Forge and Foundry Bottle Jacks
AFF bottle jacks range from compact manual units to air/hydraulic models like the 20 ton air/hydraulic bottle jack with dual ram return. These work as standalone lifts, as power sources for shop presses, or as backup lifting in the field. The air/hydraulic versions connect to your shop air for fast, effortless operation.
American Forge and Foundry Jack Stands
Ratchet stands, pin-style stands, and screw-type truck stands. For heavy truck shops, the AFF 3344SD 15,000 lb super duty truck stands offer 36" to 54" of height range with 17 screw adjustments and spring-loaded casters. Pin-style stands in 10 ton and higher capacities round out the heavy-duty side. For standard automotive work, AFF's ratchet stands start at lower capacities and price points.
Axle Jacks, Engine Cranes, Truck Stands, and More
AFF's catalog goes well beyond jacks and presses. Axle jacks up to 50 tons. Forklift jacks. Hydraulic tables and pallet jacks. Engine cranes rated at 2 and 3 tons. Truck ramps and air lift jacks for heavy equipment. Waste oil drains and grease equipment for fluid handling. It's a full-shop lineup from a single brand, all supported by the same parts network and service infrastructure.
Why Shops Choose American Forge and Foundry
There are plenty of cheap hydraulic jacks and presses available online. Most of them work fine for about a year. Then a seal leaks, a valve sticks, or a weld cracks, and you're shopping again because no one stocks parts for a jack that was built to be thrown away. That cycle costs more than buying the right equipment in the first place.
American Forge and Foundry builds equipment around a different idea: you should be able to fix it. Rebuildable cylinders. Serviceable hydraulic systems. A parts inventory that covers current and past models. Over 300 authorized service centers across the country if you want someone else to handle the repair. That support structure is why AFF equipment stays in service for years, not months.
You'll find AFF gear in independent auto shops running five bays and dealership service departments running twenty. In bus fleet maintenance facilities where a jack goes up and down dozens of times a shift. In military motor pools and agricultural operations where equipment gets used hard and fixed harder. Home garage builders buy it too, because they'd rather spend once on the same press or jack stand a professional trusts than cycle through two or three cheaper versions learning the same lesson.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where are American Forge and Foundry products made?
American Forge and Foundry, Inc. was established in 1963 and is now part of the SureWerx family, co-headquartered in Elgin, Illinois and Vancouver, British Columbia. AFF products are distributed through a network of authorized partners and supported by over 300 service centers across the United States. For specific manufacturing origin details on a particular model, contact us at (855) 498-2147.
What is the best American Forge and Foundry floor jack?
It depends on what you're lifting. For heavy-duty commercial truck shops, the AFF 3135 10 ton air/hydraulic floor jack gives you a 61" long chassis and dual-mode operation. For medium-duty work with a 5 ton capacity, the AFF 3125 offers the same long chassis design at a lower weight class. Automotive shops doing standard passenger vehicle work can look at the AFF 3 ton aluminum floor jack or the 3.5 ton Lightning Lift. Call us and we'll match you to the right model based on your typical workload.
How do you rebuild an American Forge and Foundry floor jack?
AFF floor jacks are designed with rebuildable cylinders and serviceable hydraulic components. A typical rebuild involves replacing seals, O-rings, and sometimes the check valve or release valve assembly. AFF maintains a full inventory of replacement parts, and over 300 authorized service centers can handle the repair if you'd rather not do it yourself. Contact us at (855) 498-2147 and we can help you source the correct rebuild kit or parts for your specific model.
What hydraulic fluid should I use in my American Forge and Foundry jack?
Use hydraulic jack oil only. Do not use brake fluid, transmission fluid, alcohol, or any other substitute. Using the wrong fluid will damage internal seals and void your warranty. Standard hydraulic jack oil is available at most auto parts stores. If you're unsure which weight or grade to use, check the instruction manual for your specific AFF model or give us a call.
Are American Forge and Foundry jacks good quality?
AFF has been at this since 1963. That kind of longevity doesn't happen by selling junk. Their hydraulic components are precision-machined, frames are heavy-gauge welded steel, and the finishes hold up to shop chemicals and daily abuse. The real tell is what happens after the sale: AFF stocks parts for their entire line and has authorized service depots across the country. That's not something brands offer when they expect you to throw the product away.
What is the warranty on an American Forge and Foundry jack?
AFF provides a one-year limited warranty on all equipment, covering defects in material and workmanship. If a jack is found defective during the warranty period, AFF will repair or replace it at no charge with proof of purchase. The warranty does not cover damage from overloading, accidents, or unauthorized modifications. Torque wrenches carry a separate 90-day calibration warranty.
Does American Forge and Foundry sell replacement parts?
Yes. One of the biggest advantages of AFF over cheaper brands is that they stock a complete inventory of replacement parts for their product line. Seals, valves, rams, handles, casters, and rebuild kits are all available. With over 300 service centers across the country, you can also have repairs handled by an authorized technician. Need a specific part? Call us at (855) 498-2147 and we'll help you track it down.
What's the difference between the AFF 3102A and the AFF 3179A transmission jacks?
The AFF 3102A is a stand-up air assist transmission jack with 2,000 lb capacity and a working range of 37" to 76". It's built for shops doing transmission work on vehicles that are already on a lift. The AFF 3179A is a low-profile unit rated at 3,000 lbs with a 6.5" minimum height, designed to slide under vehicles at ground level. Different tools for different setups. Call us and we'll help you pick the right one.
