American Forge & Foundry 3225 - 20 Ton Air Hydraulic Jack Built for Real Shop Work
When you're lifting heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles all day, you need a 20 ton air hydraulic jack that keeps up - not one that slows you down. The American Forge & Foundry 3225 is a 20 ton air/hydraulic long chassis jack with a 66-inch body specifically sized for vehicles with long overhangs. You're not fighting for clearance or repositioning twice to get under the frame. It reaches where you need it on the first pass.
The air motor on this unit runs on compressed air between 90 and 120 PSI, so it connects straight to your existing shop air supply. Foot-operated pump gets the saddle up fast, and the handle-mounted locking control lever locks the handle in one of three positions - vertical, 45 degrees, or horizontal - so you can work the jack from whatever angle actually makes sense under the vehicle, not just the one position the geometry forces on you. That's the kind of detail that matters on a busy shop floor.
American Forge & Foundry builds these air hydraulic jacks with precision-machined pumps, rams, and cylinders, and includes an automatic overload safety valve so the jack won't push past its rated capacity. Heavy components, tight tolerances, long service life. This isn't a jack you replace every few years - it's one you keep on the floor and maintain. Replacement parts are available, and when you have a question, you've got direct support access through us.
If you're comparing air operated hydraulic jacks and wondering whether to step up from a manual unit, the answer comes down to volume. Foot pedal and air motor together mean fewer pumps per lift and faster cycle times across a full day. For truck tire shops, fleet service, and high-volume bays, the time savings add up fast.

Installation & Setup
Air Supply Requirements
This jack requires a clean, dry shop air supply regulated between 90 and 120 PSI. Running it outside that range will affect performance - inadequate pressure means the air motor won't run correctly, and dirty or wet air accelerates seal wear. Make sure your compressed air line is filtered and regulated before connecting.
Initial Setup
When you first set up the jack, install the handle assembly into the handle socket by aligning the main handle tube with the large hole and the control rod with the smaller hole. Push the handle in until it engages the release valve mechanism at the bottom of the socket. Once installed, rotate the release valve knob left and right to confirm the U-joint below the handle socket rotates simultaneously. If it doesn't move freely, reseat the handle before use.
Bleeding Air Before First Use
Air can accumulate in the hydraulic system during shipping. Before you lift anything, bleed the system: open the release valve two to three full counterclockwise turns and pump the foot pedal about 20 times. Close the valve, then depress the air valve lever 10 times holding it down on the last press. If the lift arm doesn't rise, repeat. A properly bled jack lifts cleanly on air pressure alone. Skipping this step is the most common reason a new jack seems to underperform out of the box.
Surface Requirements
Use this jack only on hard, level surfaces that can support the combined weight of the jack and the load. Never operate on soft ground, inclines, or uneven pavement. Once the vehicle is raised, transfer the load to rated safety stands before performing any work underneath.

Applications
The 66-inch chassis clears long overhangs on heavy trucks so you can position the saddle without repositioning the whole jack. High-volume shops see real cycle-time gains with the air-over-hydraulic lifting system.
If you're turning over commercial vehicles all day, foot-operated lift and air assist mean fewer pump strokes and faster turnaround per bay. Ideal for shops running consistent heavy lifting across multiple vehicles.
Designed with bus and transit applications in mind. The long chassis body reaches underneath vehicles where shorter jacks can't, and the 20-ton capacity handles the full weight of loaded bus frames.
Built for demanding environments where reliability isn't optional. Precision-machined components and automatic overload safety protection make this jack a fit for heavy military vehicle maintenance.
Agricultural equipment gets heavy fast. This air hydraulic jack handles the load and the access challenges that come with tractors, implements, and large farm vehicles without needing specialty tooling.
Where shop air is available, this unit delivers professional-grade lifting in field conditions. The locking handle positions let you operate from whatever angle the job site allows.
Model Comparison - 3220 vs 3225
American Forge & Foundry offers two models in the 20-ton long chassis jack family. Same frame, same capacity, same lift range - the difference is how you power it. Here's a side-by-side so you can pick the right one for your shop setup.
| Spec | Model 3220 | Model 3225 |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity | 20 Tons | 20 Tons |
| Type | Manual | Air Assist (Air/Hydraulic) |
| Min Height | 7.500 in | 7.500 in |
| Max Height | 26.375 in | 26.375 in |
| Lift Height | 18.875 in | 18.875 in |
| Chassis Length | 66.000 in | 66.000 in |
| Overall Width - Front | 13.800 in | 13.800 in |
| Overall Width - Rear | 19.700 in | 19.700 in |
| Weight | 530 lbs | 562 lbs |
| Air Required | No | Yes - 90 to 120 PSI |
If your shop has a compressed air system already running, the 3225 is the clear choice. You cut down on manual pump strokes per lift, and the foot pedal combined with air assist makes for faster saddle travel. The 3220 makes sense if you need a quality air hydraulic jack that works completely independent of a shop air supply.

Frequently Asked Questions
What air pressure does the AFF 3225 require to operate?
The 3225 air motor is designed to work with shop air regulated between 90 and 120 PSI. Air supply should be clean and dry. Running below 90 PSI can cause the air motor to run erratically or not at all. The jack consumes 2.25 cubic feet per minute at 100 PSI during operation.
What's the difference between the 3220 and the 3225?
Both models share the same 20-ton capacity, 66-inch chassis length, and lift range. The 3220 is a manual jack operated entirely by the handle pump. The 3225 adds an air motor that connects to your shop air supply at 90 to 120 PSI, allowing faster saddle travel and reducing the number of manual pump strokes per lift. The 3225 weighs 32 lbs more due to the air motor assembly.
Does this jack ship for free?
Yes - the AFF 3225 ships free to the contiguous lower 48 states. If you have questions about delivery to your specific location, call us at (855) 498-2147 before ordering.
Can I use this jack on any surface in my shop?
The 3225 must be used on hard, level surfaces capable of supporting both the jack and the full weight of the load being lifted. It should not be used on soft ground, inclines, or uneven pavement. Always transfer the load to rated safety stands before working under a vehicle - the jack is a lifting device, not a load-holding device.
What does the warranty cover and how long does it last?
American Forge & Foundry provides a one-year limited warranty covering defects in material and workmanship from the date of purchase. If a defect is confirmed, AFF will repair or replace the product at no charge when shipped prepaid with proof of purchase. The warranty does not cover damage from accident, overload, abuse, or use of non-approved attachments.
