Low Profile Transmission Jack Built for Heavy-Duty Work

Pulling a heavy transmission out of a full-size truck is a two-person job with the wrong equipment. The AFF 3179A changes that. It's a hydraulic transmission jack rated at 3,000 lbs., with a low profile design that bottoms out at just 6.5" - low enough to slide under trucks that would stop a standard jack before you even get started. One technician, one jack, no extra hands required.

The wide chassis isn't just structural. It keeps load distribution even when you're maneuvering heavy components, so you're not fighting instability at the worst possible moment. The 4-way tilting head - front, rear, and both sides - gives you the fine angle control you need to align transmissions, differentials, and transfer cases without forcing anything. The universal saddle adjusts to fit your load, and the long handle pivots 360 degrees around the pump so you're always working from the right position, not repositioning the jack to compensate.

American Forge & Foundry has been building hydraulic shop equipment since 1963. This isn't a rebadge operation - they manufacture, support, and stock parts for their own gear, with service centers across the country. The 3179A reflects that. It's a heavy duty transmission jack built to stay in service, not to be replaced every few years when something wears out.

Free shipping to the lower 48 and direct phone support from our team mean you're not navigating a manufacturer phone tree when you have a question. We stock replacement parts and can help you find what you need fast.

Installation & Setup

Floor and Clearance Requirements

The 3179A needs a solid, level surface - 319 lbs. of jack on uneven or soft flooring is an accident waiting to happen. Verify your vehicle's ground clearance against the 6.5" minimum height before you order. The jack extends to 31.7" at full height, so confirm overhead clearance in your lift area as well.

Positioning and Load Control

The long handle pivots 360 degrees around the pump. Before you lift, pick the side that gives you the clearest sightline to the transmission mount - adjust your position once, then work from there. Use the adjustable saddle arms to secure the load fully before raising. The 4-way tilt lets you dial in the angle of the component during both removal and installation - take the time to get the angle right before you're fighting the weight of the transmission against a misaligned bellhousing.

Applications

Heavy-Duty Truck Transmissions

The 3179A is built for light to large heavy-duty truck transmissions. If your shop runs these jobs regularly, it's the auto transmission jack that handles the heaviest work without a second technician.

Differentials

The fully adjustable saddle and 4-way tilt give you the control you need to support, lower, and position differentials cleanly - not just hold them up while you figure out the angle.

Transfer Cases

Transfer cases demand precise positioning on the way out and on the way back in. The tilting head and adjustable arms handle both sides of that job.

Fuel Tanks and Bulk Components

Any heavy component that needs controlled raising or lowering benefits from a stable, wide-chassis platform. The 3179A covers more than just transmission jacks work - it's the right tool for fuel tanks and other bulky undercarriage components too.
