Rotary engineers the SMO14 for cars, vans, trucks, and light-duty commercial vehicles within its 14,000 lb total rating and 7,000 lb per-axle limit. Vehicle weight distribution and wheelbase must remain within the selected configuration's ratings.

Standard and Extended runway choices

Standard runways provide a 253-inch overall length and support wheelbases up to 182 inches. Extended runways increase overall length to 286 inches and maximum wheelbase to 215 inches for longer vans, pickups, and commercial vehicles.

Conventional or Shockwave power

Conventional configurations use a 2 HP, 208-230V system with a published 65-second rise time. Shockwave configurations use a 5 HP DC power system with a published 35-second rise time, two Group 24 batteries, and a built-in 110V charger. Actual rise time varies with vehicle weight.

Single-piece runways and controlled locking

Non-welded 20-inch runways provide the driving surface, while adjustable lock ladders help keep the lift level. The dual-function Sentinel Lock system and air-operated release give the technician controlled access to the mechanical locks.

Built to accept service-bay upgrades

Alignment-conversion equipment and drive-through ramp kits let the lift adapt as the bay changes. Rotary also offers lighting, oil-drain, spotting, utility, and lock-status accessories for a more complete workstation.

Installation Requirements

Choose the runway length from the vehicles

Use the longest vehicle wheelbase expected in the bay. Standard supports up to 182 inches and calls for a 15 by 26 foot minimum bay. Extended supports up to 215 inches and calls for a 15 by 28 foot minimum bay. Confirm vehicle overhang and shop circulation in addition to wheelbase.

Verify overhead and side clearances

Rotary requires ceiling or overhead clearance equal to 110 inches plus the height of the tallest vehicle. Shockwave configurations require an additional 10 1/2 inches of length and/or width when the power unit is mounted on the column side or front. The installation layout also calls for clearance from nearby obstructions. Check doors, lights, heaters, roof structure, walls, and traffic paths before locating the columns.

Have the slab and anchors reviewed

Install the lift on sound, level concrete, never asphalt or a similar unstable surface. Anchor size, embedment, edge distance, slab design, and seismic requirements depend on the applicable installation condition and local code. Have the foundation reviewed before drilling.

Prepare electrical and compressed-air service

Conventional single-phase power requires 208-230V service with a 20A fuse or circuit. Shockwave requires two Group 24 batteries and a 110-120V, 15A charging receptacle. The air-operated locks require clean, dry compressed air at 100-120 psi through the supplied filter, regulator, and lubricator. Electrical work must follow NEC and local code.

Install and level the complete lift

The runways, yokes, columns, cables, latch bars, hydraulic system, air controls, ramps, and wheel stops must be assembled and commissioned as one system. The installer must square and level the lift, adjust cables and lock ladders, fill and bleed the hydraulic circuit, and verify synchronized travel and lock engagement before service.

Warranty

Surface lifts at or below 30,000 lb

Rotary provides 5 years of structural-parts coverage, 1 year of functional-parts coverage, and 1 year of labor coverage for surface lifts rated at or below 30,000 lb. Lift registration and installation by a Rotary Authorized Installer are both required to extend functional-parts coverage through the second year.

For Shockwave-equipped lifts, first-year parts and labor coverage requires installation by a Rotary Authorized Installer and factory registration of the installation.

Wheel-service equipment

Rotary provides 3 years of functional-parts coverage and 1 year of labor coverage for wheel-service equipment. Product registration is required for the third year of functional-parts coverage.

General conditions

Coverage applies to the original owner and is not transferable. Wear items are excluded except when failure results from defective materials or workmanship. Batteries are covered by the battery manufacturer rather than VSG.
