With its included hood, the Daytona BL-950 dynamic tire balancing machine serves passenger car and light truck bays. It takes wheels to 39 inches and 150 lb and completes a cycle in 7 seconds.
Compared with the BL-917, it adds 4 inches of wheel diameter capacity, 7 lb of wheel weight capacity, and an 8 inch, 40 mm shaft in place of the 6.5 inch, 36 mm shaft. See our other wheel balancers if the work calls for a different range or measuring routine.
Features
Lower the included hood to start
Hood start can be enabled in setup so closing the hood begins the spin. With that setting off, the operator uses the start key instead.
Check sensors and recalibrate
Sensor diagnosis provides a check when balance results seem wrong. For self calibration after long nonuse or unreliable readings, run the first spin, clip a 100 g weight at 12 o'clock, then spin again.
Alloy modes place weights three ways
For alloy rims, AL1 puts weights on the shoulders and AL2 conceals the outer weight inside. AL3 clips the inside while using AL2's outer position; static and dynamic modes provide other placement choices.
Reveal residual imbalance under 5 g
A standard reading of 00 can still conceal a correction smaller than 5 g. Pressing the high accuracy key displays that inner or outer residual; the maximum residual imbalance is 4 g.
Choose the cone for the center hole
Choose among five centering cones for the rim's center hole and check which way the cone faces; the wrong fit or direction can make the balance measurement inaccurate. Tighten the speed nut after centering the wheel.
Keep weights and cones at the cabinet
Built in weight storage and accessory pegs keep correction weights and centering pieces with the balancer. The cabinet also has a cone storage handle.

Have qualified personnel connect the machine to a grounded 120V, single phase, 60 Hz supply protected by a 30 mA leakage breaker and a fuse. It is rated 1/6 HP and 5 A.
Space for the raised hood
The BL-950 space requirement is 49 x 54 inches of floor area and 72 inches of height. Allow clearance around the machine to load wheels and open the hood fully.
Firm indoor position
Place it on a flat, solid floor indoors, away from prolonged sun exposure and moisture. The operating range is 32 to 122 degrees F with relative humidity up to 85%.

Are the Daytona BL-950's standard cones enough for a motorcycle wheel?
No. A motorcycle wheel needs the MJ-II adaptor, an optional accessory separate from the five centering cones. For that mode, read dimensions with the extension scale and enter them on the control panel.
How are wheel dimensions entered on the Daytona BL-950?
The operator measures distance with the scale, takes rim width with the caliper, and keys in the rim diameter. All three values are entered at the controls before a spin. The wheel does not get automatic distance or diameter input on this model.
What if an alloy rim does not match the Daytona BL-950's standard weight positions?
The operator can adjust weight position and size through another balancing round. Alloy rims with sections different from the standard ALU profiles usually reach a satisfactory balance after one or two rounds of adjustment.
Can the Daytona BL-950 use metric units?
Yes, the Daytona BL-950 accepts metric rim dimensions. The C key changes width and diameter between inches and millimeters and also converts the imbalance display between grams and ounces. After the machine is switched off and back on, rim dimension entry defaults to inches again.
Which centering method suits a deformed outside face on the Daytona BL-950?
Negative positioning puts the cone behind the wheel to locate a steel rim accurately by its center hole when the outside face is deformed. Positive positioning is the normal method for common steel and lightly deformed alloy rims. A flange disk is optional for big tire assemblies.
