Features

10,000 lb Capacity with a 5,000 lb Per-Axle Limit

The SRM10 is rated to raise complete vehicles up to 10,000 lb. Challenger also limits either individual axle to one-half of total lift capacity, so actual axle loading still matters on pickups, vans, SUVs, and other vehicles with uneven front-to-rear weight distribution.

Three Mechanical Lock Heights in Surface-Mount Form

Surface mount provides 22 in of rise with lock positions at 13.75 in, 18.25 in, and 21.25 in. That gives a technician three repeatable working heights for wheel-end and quick-service work instead of making full rise the only useful stopping point.

Standard Spacer Blocks with Optional Height Adapters

The lift assembly includes four spacer block assemblies. If additional pickup height is needed to clear underbody components, Challenger provides optional 4.75 in and 6.75 in spacer pads. Those height adapters are separate from the standard lift assembly and should be selected only when the vehicle requires the extra clearance.

Surface Mount or Flush Mount

The SRM10 can be installed on the surface or in a prepared flush-mount pit. Surface mount keeps the full 22 in rise. Flush mounting reduces rise to 17.75 in but leaves a cleaner drive-over floor when the bay layout justifies the additional concrete work.

Choose the Power Configuration Before the Bay Is Wired

Standard (115V) and Movable Power Unit (115V) configurations use 115V single-phase, 60Hz power. The 220V store configuration uses the AB-1563-220 power unit, rated 230VAC, single-phase, 50/60Hz. Match the electrical supply to the selected configuration before installation rather than treating the store option label as the electrical specification.

Plan Around 13.25 in of Rearward Movement

The vehicle moves rearward 13.25 in as the lift reaches full rise. That number matters when the lift is placed near a wall, cabinet, door, workbench, or another fixed obstruction. Mark the actual vehicle envelope before anchoring instead of planning from the lift footprint alone.

ALI Certified and Indoor-Use Only

The SRM10 is ALI certified. It is evaluated for indoor operation from 41 to 104 F (5 to 40 C), and outdoor installation is prohibited. If the lift is used in a paint booth, the electrical power unit must be mounted outside the booth.

Best For

Brake and Tire Service
The short-rise platform gets all four tires off the floor while keeping the wheel areas open, which fits brake jobs, tire service, rotations, and wheel-end inspection without dedicating the bay to a full-height lift.
Express-Service and Quick-Maintenance Bays
Challenger positions the SRM10 for brake and express tire service. Its 4.25 in lowered height and short-rise geometry suit jobs where the technician needs fast wheel and lower-undercar access rather than standing room under the entire vehicle.
Passenger Cars Through Light Trucks
Challenger describes the SRM10 for vehicles from small passenger cars through light trucks. The 10,000 lb total capacity expands the vehicle range, but the 5,000 lb per-axle limit still has to be checked on heavier or unevenly loaded vehicles.
Low-Height Undercarriage Inspection and Service
The 22 in surface-mount rise provides useful access for inspections and service work that can be handled from a creeper, rolling seat, or wheel-end position. It is not a substitute for a full-rise lift when the job requires standing underneath the vehicle.
Fixed Service Bays with Surface or Flush Installation
Use surface mount when avoiding pit work is the priority. Use flush mount when a drive-over floor is worth the added installation work and the reduced 17.75 in rise still fits the service mix. In either case, the slab, bay space, and rearward movement need to be planned before anchoring.

Installation Requirements

Concrete and Anchoring

Challenger requires a generally sound steel-reinforced concrete floor at least 4 in thick, rated at 3,500 PSI, and cured for 28 days. The overall installation area should be level within 3/8 in. Anchors must remain at least 8 in from cracks, slab edges, or expansion joints, and the lift must not be installed on asphalt or a similar unstable surface.

Vertical Clearance and Bay Layout

Challenger does not publish one universal ceiling-height requirement for the SRM10. Vertical clearance must be calculated from the lift at full rise plus the tallest vehicle you plan to service. For floor layout, also allow for the 13.25 in rearward vehicle movement at full rise and keep walls, doors, benches, cabinets, and other fixed obstructions outside the vehicle travel envelope.

Electrical Requirements Depend on the Selected Configuration

The Standard (115V) and Movable Power Unit (115V) configurations use 115V single-phase, 60Hz power with a dedicated 20A circuit breaker or time-delay fuse. The 220V store configuration uses power unit AB-1563-220, rated 230VAC, single-phase, 50/60Hz. Have the supply matched to the selected configuration and local electrical code before commissioning the lift.

Surface Mount and Flush Mount Use Different Layouts

Surface mount places the lift and ramps on the slab and provides the full 22 in rise. Flush mount uses a prepared pit, separate hose routing, front platform components, and a different lock-release setup. Review the current pit drawing before any concrete is cut or poured because some components must be positioned before the lift is set into the pit.

Hydraulic Fluid Is Supplied by the Installer

The power-unit reservoir requires 6 qt of clean 10 wt anti-foam, anti-rust hydraulic oil or Dexron III ATF during installation. Challenger specifically says not to use detergent oil. Keep the hydraulic hose out from under the lift and out of the vehicle tire path when routing the system.

Movable Power Unit Configuration Uses Quick Disconnects

The SRM10-MPU configuration uses a wheeled power-unit stand plus hydraulic quick-disconnect couplings. Challenger requires the lift to be completely lowered before the couplings are disconnected. When the lift is not in use, the hose can be disconnected, hung on the mobile stand, and the coupler caps installed to keep dirt out.

Power Unit Placement and Indoor Use

Position the controls so the operator faces the lift while raising or lowering it. If the lift is used in a paint booth, Challenger requires the electrical power unit to be mounted outside the booth. The SRM10 is evaluated for indoor operation from 41 to 104 F (5 to 40 C); outdoor installation is prohibited.

Routine Maintenance Schedule

Keep anchor and pivot bolts tight and keep the lift clean. Daily, inspect the spacer pads and lock-release mechanism. Weekly, inspect the lift for damage. Monthly, lubricate the lock-bar pivots, lubricate hinge joints if rusting is present, and inspect the concrete near the base. Semi-annually, check hydraulic-fluid level and inspect hoses, connections, and cylinder seals if fluid is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the lifting capacity of the Challenger SRM10?
The SRM10 is rated for complete vehicles up to 10,000 lb. Challenger also limits any individual axle to one-half of total lift capacity, so the maximum individual axle weight is 5,000 lb. Check both total vehicle weight and axle loading, especially on pickups, vans, and other vehicles with uneven weight distribution.
Is the Challenger SRM10 a short-rise, low-rise, or pad lift?
Challenger identifies the SRM10 as a short-rise scissor lift, and the manual also refers to the machine as a pad lift. The parts breakdown identifies the supplied ALI warning placard as Low Rise, which supports low-rise as the applicable ALI classification. These terms describe the same 10,000 lb SRM10, not separate configurations.
Which SRM10 configuration should I choose: Standard 115V, 220V, or Movable Power Unit 115V?
Choose Standard (115V) for the normal fixed power-unit setup. Choose the 220V store configuration when the bay is being prepared for the AB-1563-220 power unit, which is rated 230VAC, 50/60Hz, single-phase. Choose Movable Power Unit (115V) when you want the wheeled stand and quick-disconnect hydraulic setup so the power unit can be moved clear after the lift is fully lowered.
Does the SRM10 require 220V power?
No. The Standard and Movable Power Unit versions use 115V single-phase, 60Hz power with a dedicated 20A breaker or time-delay fuse. The separate 220V store configuration uses Challenger power unit AB-1563-220, rated 230VAC, 50/60Hz, single-phase. Match the building supply to the actual power unit selected before installation.
What concrete does the Challenger SRM10 require?
Challenger requires steel-reinforced concrete at least 4 in thick, rated at 3,500 PSI, and cured for 28 days. The installation area should be level within 3/8 in, and anchors must remain at least 8 in from cracks, slab edges, or expansion joints. Do not install the lift on asphalt or another unstable surface.
How much bay space should I plan for the SRM10?
Challenger does not specify a universal ceiling height or a single minimum bay rectangle for the SRM10. The manual requires vertical clearance equal to the lift at full rise plus the tallest vehicle being serviced. Also account for 13.25 in of rearward vehicle movement and the lift footprint before anchoring a surface-mount unit or finalizing a flush-mount pit.
Can the Challenger SRM10 be installed as a flush-mount scissor lift?
Yes. Surface mount provides 22 in of rise with lock heights at 13.75 in, 18.25 in, and 21.25 in. Flush mount uses a prepared pit and changes the geometry to 17.75 in of rise with lock heights at 9.5 in, 14.125 in, and 17 in. Review the current pit layout before concrete work begins.
How far does the vehicle move as the SRM10 rises?
The SRM10 moves the vehicle rearward 13.25 in as it reaches full rise. That travel has to be included in the bay layout, not just the lift's static footprint. Check the vehicle envelope against walls, benches, cabinets, doors, and other fixed obstructions before the lift is anchored or a flush-mount pit is finalized.
What comes with the Challenger SRM10, and what still has to be supplied for installation?
The lift assembly includes its hydraulic components, lock-release hardware, four spacer block assemblies, rubber lift pads, anchor and installation hardware, and the applicable power-unit setup. Surface-mount installations use drive-on ramps. The SR10-001 height-adapter kit is optional. Site electrical work, concrete or pit work, installation labor, and 6 qt of approved hydraulic fluid are supplied separately.
What maintenance does the SRM10 require?
Keep the lift clean and keep anchor and pivot bolts tight. Challenger calls for daily inspection of spacer pads and the lock-release mechanism, weekly inspection for lift damage, monthly lubrication of lock-bar pivots plus inspection of nearby concrete, and semi-annual hydraulic-fluid checks. If fluid is needed, inspect the hoses, connections, and cylinder seals as part of that service.
Can the SRM10 be installed outdoors?
No. Challenger evaluates the SRM10 for indoor use only and specifically prohibits outdoor installation. The manual lists an operating ambient range of 41 to 104 F (5 to 40 C). If the lift is used in a paint booth, the electrical power unit must be mounted outside the booth.
What warranty applies to the Challenger SRM10?
Challenger's published 2023 warranty schedule lists the SRM10 under Mid- and Short-Rise lifts with 1 year of labor coverage, 1 year of functional-parts coverage, and 1 year of structural-parts coverage. The warranty is for the original purchaser, is non-transferable, requires registration, and depends on installation, use, and maintenance according to Challenger instructions.
