The Triumph NTB-800 is a computer wheel balancer whose whole pitch is fewer keystrokes: instead of typing rim diameter, rim width, and distance for every wheel, you enter the width and touch the distance ruler to the mounted wheel. The machine reads the other two values itself, a change Triumph estimates saves about 25% of the labor time per wheel.
Accuracy is ±1 gram on a 6-9 second cycle, and a foot pedal brake locks the wheel while weights go on. Capacity runs 10-28 in wheels, 1.5-20 in rim widths, and assemblies up to 150 lb.
It plugs into a 110V outlet, which makes it as at home in a serious hobby garage as in a shop. If you can live with keying all three measurements by hand, the NTB-550 is the simpler sibling; the NTB-800 is the one that pays off across a full day of wheels.
