Features

Work the lower and upper bead from one station

The standard PLUS91SA system combines a lower-bead lifting roller with a pneumatic top-bead pressing tool. On large, low-profile, and stiff assemblies, the technician can support the lower bead and hold the upper bead in position without asking the mount/demount head to do every part of the job.

Cover a broad wheel range without changing machines

The self-centering table clamps rims from 10 to 26 inches externally and 12 to 28.5 inches internally, covering a useful span of passenger-car and light-truck work. Confirmed adapter kits can also take the R146RP into motorcycle, ATV, and lawn-equipment wheels when those jobs are part of the shop's mix.

Leave room for 46-inch tires

The extra-height center frame accepts tires up to 46 inches in diameter, while the wide tool shaft clears widths up to 15 inches. That capacity is what moves the machine beyond ordinary passenger-car work and into larger steel and alloy wheel assemblies used in light-truck service.

Put 6,745 pounds of force at the bead

The double-acting side bead breaker delivers approximately 6,745 lbf at 145 psi and opens to 15 inches. The force is applied by the bead breaker, while the separate 885 ft-lb rating belongs to torque at the chuck.

Get full chuck torque from 110V service

The single-speed drive runs on 110V, single-phase, 60 Hz power and supplies up to 885 ft-lb of torque at the chuck. The familiar voltage simplifies the utility conversation, but the installer still needs to follow the current machine rating plate and Rotary installation instructions.

Keep the daily-use pieces where the work happens

A storage cabinet is built into the column, so tire paste, the brush, protectors, and hand tools do not need a separate cart beside the changer. The pedal assembly comes out for service access, steel plates support the gearbox area, and Rotary supplies two composite mount/demount heads for wheel protection.

Rotary R146 Tire Changer Training

Best For

Passenger-car and light-truck bays
The R146RP makes the most sense where the tire mix regularly reaches beyond basic passenger-car sizes. Its clamp range and 46-by-15-inch tire envelope let one machine cover a broad spread of auto and light-truck work, subject to the wheel profile and required adapters.
Low-profile, stiff, and special tire assemblies
This is where the PLUS91SA earns its floor space. The lower roller lifts beneath the bead while the pneumatic upper tool presses from above, giving the technician two useful points of control on assemblies that resist ordinary hand pressure.
Shops with steady tire volume
Rotary positions the reinforced frame and swingarm layout for high-volume use. The R146RP is most defensible when the helper tools will be used regularly; for occasional straightforward tire work, much of its value would sit idle.

Installation Requirements

Electrical service

Plan for 110V, single-phase, 60 Hz service at the machine location. Before wiring or fitting the plug, have a qualified electrician work from the current machine rating plate and the installation instructions supplied with the unit.

Compressed air

The helper system and bead breaker depend on shop air that can hold 8 to 10 bar (115 to 145 psi) while the machine is working. Rotary specifies a 1/4 x 10 supply line and mounts the filter unit on the machine. Condensate drainage, lubricant level, and clean-air checks continue after installation; they are not one-time setup items.

Floor and anchoring

This machine is meant to stay put. Set it on a flat, solid floor, preferably concrete or tile, rated for at least 500 kg/m2. Rotary calls for four 10 mm floor holes and four M8 x 80 mm screws or 8 x 80 mm studs tightened to approximately 70 Nm. The anchoring hardware is not included, so it needs to be on the installation list before the machine arrives.

Placement and commissioning

Choose a dry, well-lit location with enough open space for the swingarm, helper arm, wheel handling, and technician movement. Exact configuration dimensions still need to be matched to the current order code, so confirm the installation footprint with Garage Supply Guys before laying out the bay. Electrical connection, assembly, anchoring, air connection, and control checks belong in the commissioning plan, not after the first tire is waiting.

Warranty

Surface lifts at or below 30,000 lb

Rotary provides 5 years of structural-parts coverage, 1 year of functional-parts coverage, and 1 year of labor coverage for surface lifts rated at or below 30,000 lb. Lift registration and installation by a Rotary Authorized Installer are both required to extend functional-parts coverage through the second year.

For Shockwave-equipped lifts, first-year parts and labor coverage requires installation by a Rotary Authorized Installer and factory registration of the installation.

Wheel-service equipment

Rotary provides 3 years of functional-parts coverage and 1 year of labor coverage for wheel-service equipment. Product registration is required for the third year of functional-parts coverage.

General conditions

Coverage applies to the original owner and is not transferable. Wear items are excluded except when failure results from defective materials or workmanship. Batteries are covered by the battery manufacturer rather than VSG.

Frequently Asked Questions

What wheel and tire sizes can the R146RP service?
The table clamps rims from 10 to 26 inches externally and 12 to 28.5 inches internally. Rotary publishes a maximum tire diameter of 46 inches and a maximum tire width of 15 inches. Optional equipment may be required for some wheel types.
What does the PLUS91SA helper arm include?
The standard PLUS91SA helper system includes a lower-bead lifting roller and a pneumatic top-bead pressing tool for large and special tire assemblies.
Does the R146RP include the pneumatic wheel lift?
No. The VSG800A35 pneumatic wheel lift is an optional accessory with a 175 lb maximum capacity and is sold separately.
What electrical service does the machine require?
The machine uses 110V, single-phase, 60 Hz power. Have the installer size the circuit and connection from the current machine rating plate and the installation instructions supplied with the unit.
What shop air does the machine require?
Rotary specifies 8 to 10 bar, approximately 115 to 145 psi, through a 1/4 x 10 supply line. That pressure needs to be available while the helper tools and bead breaker are working, not only as a static compressor reading.
Does the tire changer need to be anchored?
Yes. Rotary requires four M8 x 80 mm screws or 8 x 80 mm studs installed in 10 mm floor holes. The anchoring hardware is not supplied, so include it in the site-preparation plan.
What maintenance does the pneumatic system require?
The manual calls for periodic inspection of the air-treatment unit and lubricator, draining condensate, maintaining the specified lubricant level, and checking for clean air supply. Follow the maintenance schedule and lubricant specifications in the current manual.
What warranty does Rotary provide for the R146RP?
Rotary's wheel-service warranty provides three years of functional-parts coverage and one year of labor coverage. Product registration is required for the third year of functional-parts coverage. The limited warranty applies to the original owner, is not transferable, and requires installation, operation, use, and maintenance according to Rotary's instructions. Contact Garage Supply Guys for the complete warranty terms or help with a warranty question.
How do I arrange installation or find authorized Rotary service?
Contact Garage Supply Guys at +1 (855) 498-2147. We can help coordinate installation planning, identify available Rotary-authorized support, and answer questions about electrical service, compressed air, anchoring, and the exact equipment package before you order.
