The Robinair 17800C is a multi-refrigerant recover, recycle, evacuate, and recharge machine for larger A/C and refrigeration systems that fall outside the normal light-duty passenger-vehicle service lane. It is intended for applications such as mass-transit vehicles, buses, refrigerated trailers and containers, and stationary systems where technicians need to work with multiple approved refrigerants.
The 17800C combines refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, refrigerant management, leak-check functions, and service-data storage in one machine. An 18 ft service-hose set gives technicians useful reach around larger equipment, while the 5 CFM vacuum pump, external 50 lb tank system, 4.3 in graphical display, and guided operating menus support repeat service work. It is available in a 115 volt build and, as the 17800C-230, a 230 volt build. This machine does not meet SAE J2788 requirements and cannot be used on refrigerant systems found in Class I-III light-duty passenger vehicles.
Features
Service 16 Approved Refrigerants
Robinair lists the 17800C for R-134a, R-12, R-22, R-402A, R-402B, R-404A, R-407A, R-407B, R-407C, R-410A, R-448A, R-449A, R-452A, R-500, R-502, and R-507. The machine must be cleared and the refrigerant tank changed when switching refrigerant types, which helps keep one refrigerant from being mixed with another.
Recovery, Evacuation, and Recharge From One Machine
The 17800C handles the core service sequence without moving the job between separate recovery, vacuum, and charging equipment. Robinair rates recovery at 0.5 lb/min for vapor and 1 lb/min for liquid.
5 CFM Vacuum Pump With Vacuum Leak Check
The integrated vacuum pump provides 5.0 CFM free-air displacement at 60 Hz. The vacuum function can also run a 5 minute pressure-rise leak check after evacuation, giving the technician a direct way to check for vacuum decay before charging.
18 Foot Service Hoses for Larger Equipment
The red and blue service hoses are 18 ft long, giving the machine more working reach around buses, refrigerated trailers, containers, and stationary equipment where the service connections may be well away from the machine.
Guided Controls and Service Records
A 4.3 in graphical LCD and keypad guide the operator through recovery, vacuum, charging, refrigerant selection, tank filling, maintenance, and setup functions. The machine can store the latest 25 service-data entries by date and system identification or VIN.
Maintenance Tracking Is Built Into the Machine
The setup menu tracks refrigerant recovered and charged, remaining filter capacity, and vacuum-pump operating time. The filter must be replaced after 300 lb of refrigerant has been filtered, and the machine provides an earlier warning as that limit approaches.
Best For
The 17800C is suited to fleet and transit operations servicing larger A/C systems and approved refrigerants that are not normally handled by a passenger-vehicle RRR machine.
The multi-refrigerant capability and 18 ft service hoses make the machine relevant for refrigerated transport equipment where refrigerant type and service access can vary from one unit to the next.
Robinair also identifies the 17800C for stationary systems using its approved refrigerants. It is a better fit for this work than a shop that only services Class I-III light-duty passenger vehicles, which this machine is specifically not intended to handle.

Installation Requirements
115V Grounded Power Required
The 17800C requires a grounded 115V, 60 Hz electrical supply. Position the machine so the plug and power switch remain accessible. Robinair advises against using an extension cord. If one is unavoidable, use the shortest possible cord with a minimum conductor size of 14 AWG.
Set It on a Level Surface and Keep the Rear Vents Clear
Operate the machine on an even, stable surface with sufficient lighting and lock the front wheels before use. Keep the rear fan vents unobstructed. Robinair publishes an operating temperature range of 50°F to 105°F (11°C to 41°C) for this machine.
Mechanical Ventilation Is Required
Robinair specifies use in locations with mechanical ventilation providing at least four air changes per hour. Do not operate the machine near open gasoline containers, flames, hot surfaces, explosive gases or vapors, or in ATEX-classified areas.
Use the Required 50 lb Tank and Temperature Probe
The machine requires a 50 lb DOT-4BA-400 tank with an air-purge port. The tank temperature probe must make metal-to-metal contact with the tank and be secured with its strap. Robinair warns that a different or smaller tank can degrade operation or increase the risk of overfill.
Tank Connections Matter When Changing Refrigerants
The red tank hose connects to the vapor port, blue to the liquid port, and yellow to the air-purge port. When switching refrigerant types, the machine must first clear the existing refrigerant into its current tank. The tank is then replaced with one designated for the newly selected refrigerant before operation continues.
Activation Is Required Within 30 Days
Initial setup includes language, units, date and time, internal service vacuum, refrigerant selection, and tank fill. Robinair also requires product activation. If the machine is not registered and activated within 30 days of initial startup, it will lock out and stop functioning.
