Norco 72200D 22 Ton Air Hydraulic Axle Jack

You're under a loaded truck or trailer and you need to get an axle off the ground fast, without wrestling a manual pump for ten minutes. The Norco 72200D air hydraulic axle jack does the work for you. Hook up your shop air and the fast-lifting air motor drives 22 tons of capacity from a 9-inch low height to 22 inches of lift. No pumping, no straining, no burning your morning on a single axle.

This is a shop-grade jack built for the way techs actually work. The 50-inch "T" handle reaches under vehicles with low overhang, and the load release lives on top of the handle so you can operate it from any position. The compact 20-inch by 13-inch footprint slides between tandem wheels where bulkier hydraulic axle jacks won't fit. When you're done, the self-retracting ram pulls itself back down so you're not manually lowering the jack to move on.

Norco builds this for trucks, trailers, buses, and heavy equipment, and it's rated to the ASME/PASE load-limiting standard with built-in safety bypass and overload protection. Whether you call it an axle jack, a jack axle setup, or a full-blown trailer axle jack, the 72200D is the tool that turns a two-person, ten-minute lift into a one-person, one-minute job. Buy it from Garage Supply Guys and you get real people who know Norco Industries jacks, plus help sourcing saddles and replacement parts long after the sale.

Installation & Setup

Setup is straightforward and takes minutes. Insert the handle tube into the handle fork, seat the stopper rod, and secure it with the supplied bolt and washer. The handle locking lever sets the handle in vertical, horizontal, or 45-degree position, so you can lock it out of the way of the vehicle before you lift.

This jack runs on shop air, so you'll need a compressed air line delivering between 85 and 145 PSI. In most cases 100 PSI will move the full 22-ton load. Never exceed 145 PSI. Install the quick-disconnect of your choice in the air valve, secure the air hose to the "L" hook on the handle, and connect your shop line.

Purge air before first use. Air can get trapped in the hydraulic system during shipping, which makes the jack feel spongy when operated. Open the release valve two full turns, depress the air valve for 15 to 20 seconds, close the valve tight, then run the ram to full height. Repeat if needed until the action is firm.

Always use the jack on a hard, level surface, and pair it with jack stands rated equal to or greater than the jack's capacity before working under any vehicle.

Trailer & Fleet Work

The compact body fits between tandem wheels, making it a natural axle jack for trailer maintenance and fleet turnarounds.

Bus & RV Shops

Frequently Asked Questions

How much air pressure do I need to run this jack?

You need a shop air line delivering between 85 and 145 PSI. In most cases 100 PSI will lift the full 22-ton capacity. Never exceed 145 PSI.

Do I still need jack stands with this jack?

Yes. This jack is for lifting only. Once the vehicle is raised, place jack stands rated equal to or greater than the jack's 22-ton capacity, lower the load onto them, and never work under a vehicle supported by the jack alone.

Will it fit between tandem wheels?

Yes. The compact body measures 20 in long by 13 in wide specifically so it fits between tandem wheels where larger axle jacks won't.

What's the lift range?

It starts at a 9 in low height and lifts to 22 in. The ram delivers 4.75 in of stroke plus a 4.25 in screw extension to reach higher lift points.

Which saddles come with it?

Three removable 2 in diameter saddles ship with the jack: the 222328 standard saddle, the 72203 2-1/4 in extension saddle, and the 72204 4 in extension saddle, plus a handle-mounted holder to keep them close.

Do I have to lower it manually?

No. The ram is self-retracting, so it pulls itself back down once you release the load. That saves you time when repositioning between axles.

It feels spongy out of the box. Is something wrong?

No, that's trapped air from shipping. Open the release valve two full turns, hold the air valve 15 to 20 seconds, close it tight, then run the ram to full height. Repeat until the action firms up.

What surface can I use it on?

Use it only on a hard, level surface. Chock the tires that stay on the ground, center the load on the saddle, and keep the setup stable throughout the lift.

Can I get replacement saddles and parts later?

Yes. The three saddles carry their own part numbers (222328, 72203, 72204), and we can help you source Norco Industries parts and point you to the Norco Industries catalog. Call us at (855) 498-2147.

Does free shipping apply to my order?

Free shipping applies to the lower 48 states. At 115 lbs this ships as freight, so reach out first if you need a delivery window, residential delivery, or liftgate service.
