COATS Tire Changer and Balancer Combo: 1300 Balancer + RC-45 Electric Changer
You're trying to outfit a bay with two machines that actually carry the workload, not two compromises that slow you down. This COATS tire changer and balancer combo pairs the 1300 wheel balancer with the RC-45 electric rim clamp tire changer, so you mount, demount, and balance passenger and most light truck assemblies from one setup. It's a tire changer and balancer combo built around equipment shops have leaned on for years, not a no-name package you're gambling on.
The RC-45 is a rim clamp changer with a rotating tabletop, bead loosener shoe, and Duckhead mount/demount tool. Clamp steel wheels from the inside and alloy or custom wheels from the outside, and the built-in pressure limiter keeps most car and light truck tires from inflating past 60 PSI to cut down on over-inflation risk. The 1300 balancer runs a single-spin, two-plane dynamic cycle with a direct-drive motor and an offset arm that enters wheel offset and diameter automatically. That's the core of why this tire changer balancer combo earns its bay space: less guesswork, fewer steps, more wheels out the door.
For a general service shop weighing tire changer and balancer combos, the question isn't what the machines are. It's whether the pair holds up day after day and whether parts are there when you need them. We stock COATS tire equipment and replacement wear parts, you get free shipping to the lower 48, and you reach a real person for support instead of a call-center queue. That's why buyers shopping a tire changer and balancer combo for sale come to GSG for it.

Installation & Setup
This is professional shop equipment, so plan the bay before it lands. The 1300 balancer needs a flat, solid floor, preferably concrete, and has to sit firmly on all three feet or your balance readings won't be reliable. Give it room to raise the hood fully and to load and unload wheels, with 5 ft of clearance on the sides and 6.5 ft above.
The balancer requires a factory-trained COATS service technician to perform the install, setup, and initial test. Improper power connection can void the warranty, so the power install gets verified before the unit is connected. Electrical needs are 220V single or three phase, 60 Hz, 20A on the matching NEMA twist-lock. No bolt-down installation is required.
The RC-45 needs a well-lit, easy-to-clean spot away from oil and debris, with enough space for safe operation. It connects to shop air through a 1/4-inch pipe thread male fitting on the right rear of the machine. The air/electric model wants 5 CFM at 150 PSI; keep operating pressure between 110 and 175 PSI at the machine for good performance. Whether you bolt the changer to the floor depends on your shop conditions and local code, so have your safety manager make that call.
Applications: Who This Tire Mount and Balance Machine Is For
If you turn a steady mix of passenger and light truck work, this pairing covers the bulk of what rolls in without forcing you into a specialty machine.
Mount, demount, and balance in one station. The single-spin balancer and rim clamp changer keep a two-step job moving instead of stacking up.
Outside clamping plus the option to run a plastic bootie over the Duckhead tool helps protect polished and alloy rims during service.
If you already run COATS tire equipment, this combo keeps your accessories, wear parts, and operator habits consistent across the bay.

Frequently Asked Questions
What wheels can this combo handle?
The RC-45 services single-piece automotive and most light truck tire/wheel assemblies. The 1300 balancer handles wheel diameters from 8 to 30 inches, widths from 2 to 20 inches, outside tire diameters up to 44 inches, and tire/wheel weight up to 150 lb.
What electrical does each machine need?
The 1300 balancer runs on 220V, 60 Hz, 20A, either single phase (NEMA L6-20R) or three phase (NEMA L15-20R). The RC-45 electric changer uses a 15 amp circuit at either 115V or 230V, 1 PH. Check the serial tag for your specific unit.
Do I need an air compressor for the tire changer?
Yes. The air/electric RC-45 needs a 5 CFM air source at 150 PSI, with operating pressure kept between 110 and 175 PSI at the machine. It connects through a 1/4-inch pipe thread fitting on the right rear.
Does the balancer require professional installation?
Yes. A factory-trained COATS service technician must perform the install, setup, and initial test on the 1300 balancer. Improper power connection can void the warranty, so the power install is verified before the unit is connected.
Does the balancer have to be bolted down?
No bolt-down installation is required for the 1300 balancer. It does need a flat, solid floor, preferably concrete, and must sit firmly on all three feet to read accurately.
How much floor space does the balancer need?
Plan for 5 ft of clearance on each side and 6.5 ft above so the hood can fully raise. The balancer footprint is 60 inches deep by 60 inches wide.
Can it service alloy and custom wheels safely?
Yes. Clamp steel wheels from the inside and alloy or custom wheels from the outside. For polished and expensive rims, a plastic bootie over the Duckhead mount/demount tool helps prevent scratching.
How does the balancer enter wheel measurements?
The offset arm enters wheel offset (A) and diameter (D) automatically; you pull it to the clip-on weight location and wait for the beep. Width is set with the included calipers. It runs a single-spin, two-plane dynamic cycle.
What's the warranty on this combo?
The 1300 balancer carries 3 years on inverter, piezos, and circuit boards, 1 year on display and other parts, 6 months labor, and 10 years on the direct-drive motor (prorated after 5 years). The RC-45 carries 1 year parts and 6 months labor. Wear items are excluded.
How does it ship?
It ships free to the lower 48 by freight. Our team coordinates the shipment and scheduling. Contact us before ordering if you need a delivery window, residential delivery, or liftgate service so we can set up accessorials.
