Challenger EW12LS-2 12,000 lb Wide Inground Lift - Tub and Frame, Less Superstructure
Your EW12 superstructure is already in the ground. This package picks up where it left off. The Challenger EW12LS-2 bundles the pre-kit and standard completion kit together, delivering the tub, frame, hydraulic power unit, arms, column-mounted controls, and every other component needed to turn your installed superstructure into a fully operational 12,000 lb wide inground lift. One order, one shipment, one coordinated install to close the gap between concrete work and lifting cars.
This is the base less-superstructure configuration. Standard hydraulic operation with a 63-second rise time and column-mounted controls integrated directly into the lift structure. No QuickCycle upgrade, no bench-mounted controls. You get the full 12,000 lb EW12 platform with 88 inches of drive-through clearance, true 3-stage front and rear arms, and double-telescoping screw pads, all at the standard operating spec. For shops that don't need the faster cycle times, this is the straightforward path to a finished bay.
Every component is factory-matched to the EW12 series. Hydraulic lines, control wiring, arm assemblies, and fittings are all spec'd for this platform. If you decide you want QuickCycle hydraulics or bench-mounted controls, those are available as separate less-superstructure configurations (LS-2-QC, or completion kit upgrades). Not sure which package matches your build? Call (855) 498-2147 and we'll confirm what you need based on what's already installed.

What's Included

This less-superstructure package combines the EW12 pre-kit (tub and frame) and standard completion kit with column-mounted controls. It includes everything needed to finish an EW12 installation except the superstructure itself. Contact our team at (855) 498-2147 to verify the exact components and confirm compatibility with your installed superstructure.
Installation and Setup
Superstructure Prerequisite
This package does not include the superstructure. Your EW12 superstructure must already be installed in the ground with concrete work completed before the tub, frame, and completion kit components can be connected. If your superstructure isn't in yet, you'll need the full EW12 system package instead of this less-superstructure configuration.
Electrical Requirements
The completed EW12 runs on 208-230V, 60 Hz, single-phase power with a dedicated circuit for the 2 HP motor. All wiring needs to be handled by a licensed electrician who can verify the supply meets National Electrical Code standards before the lift goes into service.
Compressed Air Supply
You'll need 90 to 120 psi of shop air for the automatic safety locks. These locks engage at designated lift heights and require consistent pressure in that range to function. Make sure your compressor can sustain that output before commissioning the lift.
Professional Installation Required
All hydraulic, electrical, and air connections must be made by qualified technicians following Challenger's installation manual. The pre-kit components (tub and frame) install into your existing superstructure first, followed by the above-ground completion kit components. Plan for a coordinated installation sequence to avoid rework.
Applications
Your superstructure is in the ground and you need everything else. This package delivers the tub, frame, power unit, arms, and controls in a single order to finish the job.
The EW12's 88-inch drive-through clearance and arm geometry give you unobstructed battery lowering access on EV platforms without modifications or external support equipment.
Full-size trucks, heavy SUVs, and specialty vehicles that crowd standard-width inground lifts fit through the EW12's extra-wide opening without repositioning between services.
The base EW12LS-2 gives you the full 12,000 lb ALI/ETL-certified platform with standard hydraulics and column controls. Same lift, same capacity, same clearance, without the QuickCycle or BMC add-ons.

Shipping
Freight Delivery: Challenger Lifts ship via flatbed freight truck. You'll need a forklift, Bobcat, or similar equipment for unloading. Lift gate service isn't available due to component weight. Deliveries arrive on a 48-foot semi, so make sure your site has adequate truck access.
Scheduling: You're responsible for coordinating a delivery appointment with the freight carrier. If unloading equipment isn't available at your location, the shipment can be routed to a local freight terminal for pickup.
Lead Times: Shipments are subject to factory lead times and warehouse availability. Our team coordinates the freight shipment and helps manage scheduling details. Need a delivery window, residential delivery, or liftgate service? Contact us before ordering so we can confirm the best delivery setup and any accessorial charges.
Warranty
Challenger Lifts Limited Warranty: Challenger covers the repair or replacement of defective parts for the original owner, including reasonable labor and transportation costs, provided the lift was installed, used, and maintained according to official specifications.
Eligibility: Valid for the original purchaser only. Not transferable. Applies to lifts installed in the United States and Canada.
Exclusions: Coverage does not extend to consumable items, normal wear and tear, damage from misuse or improper installation, or repairs performed by unauthorized service providers. Use of unapproved parts or accessories voids coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does "less superstructure" mean on the EW12LS-2?
It means this package includes everything you need to build a complete EW12 wide inground lift except the superstructure. You get the tub and frame (pre-kit components that install into the superstructure) plus the standard completion kit (power unit, arms, column-mounted controls). Your superstructure must already be installed in the ground with concrete work finished before these components can be connected.
What's the difference between the EW12LS-2 and the EW12LS-2-QC?
Both packages include the same pre-kit (tub and frame) and are both less-superstructure configurations. The difference is the completion kit. This EW12LS-2 uses standard hydraulic operation with a 63-second rise time. The LS-2-QC version includes QuickCycle hydraulics for faster lift and lower cycles. Both use column-mounted controls unless you opt for a BMC configuration.
What if my superstructure isn't installed yet?
Then you need the full EW12 system package that includes the superstructure, not this less-superstructure configuration. The superstructure is the first component that goes into the ground during new construction. If your bay is still in the planning or concrete phase, call (855) 498-2147 and we'll get you set up with the complete system.
What does "tub and frame" refer to?
The tub and frame are the pre-kit components that install into your existing superstructure below ground level. They house the hydraulic cylinders and provide the structural foundation for the lift arms and above-ground hardware. Once the tub and frame are in place, the completion kit components (power unit, arms, controls) connect on top to finish the system.
What electrical service does the completed EW12 require?
The system runs on 208-230V, 60 Hz, single-phase power with a dedicated circuit for the 2 HP motor. A licensed electrician needs to handle the wiring and verify the supply meets code before the lift goes into service. You'll also need 90 to 120 psi compressed air for the automatic safety locks.
Is the EW12 ALI/ETL certified?
Yes. The completed EW12 holds both ALI and ETL certification, confirming third-party verification of the lift's 12,000 lb capacity, structural integrity, and mechanical safety features. These certifications are recognized by insurance carriers, facility managers, and franchise dealership compliance programs.
Can the EW12 service electric vehicles?
That's one of its primary design strengths. The 88-inch drive-through clearance and 3-stage arm geometry allow battery pack access and lowering without obstruction. Double-telescoping screw pads with a 4" to 6.125" height range provide precise lift point positioning on EV platforms for high-voltage battery and drivetrain service.
How is this package shipped?
It ships via flatbed freight truck. You'll need a forklift or similar equipment for unloading since lift gate service isn't available. Deliveries arrive on a 48-foot semi, so confirm your site has adequate truck access. Since this combines the tub, frame, and completion kit, expect a substantial shipment that covers both below-ground and above-ground components.
What warranty covers this package?
Challenger's limited warranty covers repair or replacement of defective parts for the original owner, including reasonable labor and transportation costs. The lift must be installed, used, and maintained per Challenger's specifications. Coverage excludes consumable items, normal wear, and damage from misuse or unauthorized repairs. Registration may be required after purchase.
How do I know which EW12 package I need?
It depends on what's already in the ground. If your superstructure is installed and you need everything else, this less-superstructure package is the right call. If nothing's installed yet, you need the full system. If the superstructure and pre-kit are both done, a standalone completion kit is the match. Want faster cycle times? Step up to the LS-2-QC. Call (855) 498-2147 and we'll sort out exactly where your build stands.
