Challenger EW12-UC-BMC-QC Upper Components for EW12 Inground Lift
Your EW12 superstructure and pre-kit are both in the ground. The below-grade work is done. What you need now are the above-ground components that sit on top of the installed framework and bring the lift to operational status. The Challenger EW12-UC-BMC-QC delivers the upper component package with bench-mounted controls and QuickCycle hydraulics, covering the power unit, lift arms, screw pads, control panel, and QuickCycle system in a single order.
Two upgrades are built into this package. Bench-mounted controls move your operator panel off the lift columns and onto a workstation bench, giving you a fixed control station with clear sightlines to the vehicle. QuickCycle hydraulics cut your lift and lower times from the standard 63-second rise, keeping vehicles moving through the bay faster on every cycle. Together, they give you the most capable control and speed configuration available for the EW12 platform.
This upper components package is different from a completion kit. Completion kits pair with a pre-kit to finish an installation. Upper components assume both the superstructure and pre-kit are already installed and connected below grade. You're only adding what goes on top. Every component is factory-matched to the EW12 series, so fittings, wiring, and hydraulic connections are purpose-built for this platform. If you're not sure whether you need a completion kit, an upper components package, or a less-superstructure bundle, call (855) 498-2147 and we'll figure out the right match based on where your build stands.

Installation and Setup
Superstructure and Pre-Kit Prerequisite
This package covers above-ground components only. Both your EW12 superstructure and pre-kit must already be installed in the ground with concrete work completed and below-grade hydraulic connections made before the upper components can be mounted. If your pre-kit isn't in yet, you likely need a completion kit or less-superstructure package instead.
Electrical Requirements
The completed EW12 runs on 208-230V, 60 Hz, single-phase power with a dedicated circuit for the 2 HP motor. A licensed electrician needs to handle all wiring and verify the supply meets National Electrical Code standards before the lift goes into service.
Compressed Air Supply
You'll need 90 to 120 psi of shop air for the automatic safety locks. These locks engage at designated lift heights and require consistent pressure in that range to function. Verify your compressor output before commissioning the lift.
Bench-Mounted Controls Placement
The BMC configuration places your lift controls at a workstation bench rather than on the lift columns. Plan your bench location for clear sightlines to the vehicle on the lift while keeping the control panel within easy reach of your technician's workflow path.
Professional Installation Required
All hydraulic, electrical, and air connections must be completed by qualified technicians following Challenger's installation manual. Upper components mount onto the existing pre-kit and superstructure framework, so ensure all below-grade connections are verified before beginning the above-ground install.
Applications
Superstructure and pre-kit are installed. This upper components package delivers everything that goes on top to finish the build and get your bay operational.
The EW12's 88-inch drive-through clearance and arm geometry give you unobstructed battery lowering access on EV platforms without modifications or external support equipment.
QuickCycle hydraulics cut lift and lower times compared to standard operation. For shops running back-to-back services, the faster cycles keep vehicles moving and throughput high.
Bench-mounted controls keep the operator panel at a fixed workstation rather than on the columns. Ideal for bay layouts where a centralized control point improves workflow and sightlines.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are "upper components" on the EW12?
Upper components are the above-ground hardware that mounts onto an already-installed superstructure and pre-kit. This package covers the power unit, lift arms, screw pads, bench-mounted control panel, and QuickCycle hydraulic system. It does not include the superstructure or the pre-kit (tub and frame). Both of those must be installed below grade before the upper components can go on.
How is an upper components package different from a completion kit?
A completion kit pairs with a pre-kit to finish an installation where the superstructure is already in the ground. An upper components package assumes both the superstructure and pre-kit are already installed and connected. You're only adding what goes on top. If your pre-kit isn't in yet, you likely need a completion kit or a less-superstructure bundle instead of upper components.
What does bench-mounted controls mean on the EW12?
Bench-mounted controls place the lift's operator panel at a workstation bench instead of on the lift columns. This gives you a fixed control station with clear sightlines to the vehicle, keeping the panel accessible from a dedicated position in your bay. It's the alternative to standard column-mounted controls and works well for shops that want their operator interface separate from the lift structure.
What does QuickCycle do on the EW12?
QuickCycle speeds up the hydraulic lift and lower cycle times compared to the standard configuration. The base EW12 has a 63-second rise time. QuickCycle reduces that, helping you move vehicles through the bay faster. For high-volume shops running back-to-back services, the time savings add up across every job throughout the day.
What needs to be installed before I can use this package?
Both the EW12 superstructure and pre-kit must be installed in the ground with concrete work completed and below-grade hydraulic connections made. The upper components mount directly onto the pre-kit framework. If your superstructure is in but the pre-kit isn't, you need a completion kit. If neither is in, you need the full system.
What electrical service does the completed EW12 require?
The system runs on 208-230V, 60 Hz, single-phase power with a dedicated circuit for the 2 HP motor. A licensed electrician needs to handle the wiring and verify the supply meets code before the lift goes into service. You'll also need 90 to 120 psi compressed air for the automatic safety locks.
Is the EW12 ALI/ETL certified?
Yes. The completed EW12 holds both ALI and ETL certification, confirming third-party verification of the lift's 12,000 lb capacity, structural integrity, and mechanical safety features. These certifications are recognized by insurance carriers, facility managers, and franchise dealership compliance programs.
Can the EW12 service electric vehicles?
That's one of its primary design strengths. The 88-inch drive-through clearance and 3-stage arm geometry allow battery pack access and lowering without obstruction. Double-telescoping screw pads with a 4" to 6.125" height range provide precise lift point positioning on EV platforms for high-voltage battery and drivetrain service.
How is this package shipped?
It ships via flatbed freight truck. You'll need a forklift or similar equipment for unloading since lift gate service isn't available. Deliveries arrive on a 48-foot semi, so confirm your site has adequate truck access. As an above-ground-only package, the shipment is lighter than a full system or less-superstructure bundle, but still requires proper unloading equipment.
How do I know which EW12 package I need?
It comes down to what's already in the ground. Superstructure and pre-kit both installed: this upper components package. Superstructure only: a completion kit or less-superstructure bundle that includes the pre-kit. Nothing installed: the full EW12 system. Call (855) 498-2147 and our team will walk through your installation stage to confirm the right match.
