Challenger EW10-UC Upper Components for EW10 Overview
Your EW10 cassette, frame, and standard power unit are in the ground and the concrete is cured. You need the above-ground hardware to bring the bay online. The Challenger EW10-UC upper components package is the most straightforward option in the lineup: superstructure, 3-stage arms, screw pads, and standard pedestal controls for the EW10 wide inground lift. No motor, no power unit, no bench-mount upgrade, no QuickCycle. Just the upper hardware for standard EW1020 installations where the below-ground infrastructure and 2HP motor are already in place.
This is the base configuration for shops that want the EW10's extra-wide 88-inch drive-through clearance without any added complexity on the control or motor side. Standard pedestal controls mount adjacent to the lift as a standalone unit. No workbench integration to plan, no special conduit routing for BMC. The 2HP motor delivers a 41-second rise time, and you're running. If speed or control layout become priorities later, BMC and QuickCycle upgrade paths exist through the other UC packages, but this gets you lifting vehicles today with the simplest possible above-ground setup.
The arm assemblies are identical across all EW10 configurations: 3-stage front and rear with double-telescoping screw pads, 20" to 42" reach, and precise pick-point positioning for everything from compact EVs to wide-body luxury vehicles. No bolster to drive over, 10,000 lb system capacity, and ALI/ETL certification on the complete assembled system.

Installation and Setup
The upper components install onto an existing EW10 cassette, frame, and standard power unit that's already set in cured concrete. Your below-ground infrastructure needs to be complete before the superstructure goes on.
Standard pedestal controls are the simplest above-ground installation in the EW10 family. The control station mounts adjacent to the lift as an independent unit with no workbench integration required. Plan the pedestal placement for easy technician access without obstructing vehicle entry or exit. The existing standard power unit requires 208V-230V single-phase power at 60Hz and shop air between 90 and 120 psi. Professional installation by a qualified lift technician is strongly recommended to maintain warranty coverage and ensure ALI/ETL compliance on the assembled system.
Applications
If you purchased the tub and frame as the EW10LS-2 with a separate standard 2HP power unit, this upper components package completes the bay with standard pedestal controls and the full 3-stage arm assembly.
Replacing worn or damaged above-ground components on an existing standard EW10 installation. You keep your 2HP motor and get fresh arms, pads, covers, and controls without paying for a power unit you already own.
The base EW10-UC configuration gives you 10,000 lb capacity with standard controls and no added complexity. Reliable daily-use lifting for shops that don't need faster cycle times or bench-mount integration.
The 88-inch drive-through clearance supports EV battery pack removal while maintaining full conventional lift functionality for standard vehicle service.
Model Comparison
Challenger offers upper components packages in multiple control and motor configurations. Here's how all four UC options compare:
| Upper Components Package | Controls | Intended Power Unit |
|---|---|---|
| EW10-UC | Standard Pedestal | 2HP Standard |
| EW10-UC-QC | Standard Pedestal | 3HP QuickCycle |
| EW10-UC-BMC | Bench-Mount (BMC) | 2HP Standard |
| EW10-UC-BMC-QC | Bench-Mount (BMC) | 3HP QuickCycle |
All four share the same superstructure, 3-stage arms with 20" to 42" reach, double-telescoping screw pads, and 10,000 lb system capacity. The EW10-UC is the base option: standard pedestal controls paired with the standard 2HP motor for the simplest possible above-ground setup. If you want faster cycle times, the EW10-UC-QC pairs with the 3HP QuickCycle motor. If you want bench-mount controls, the EW10-UC-BMC and EW10-UC-BMC-QC cover both motor options. Warranty
Challenger Lifts provides a limited warranty to the original purchaser covering defects in material and workmanship. Coverage typically includes 1-year labor, with extended structural coverage of up to 5 years on certain inground models. The warranty is non-transferable.
For inground lifts in the 10K-15K range (such as the EW1020 platform), typical coverage includes 1-year labor, 2-year parts, and 5-year structural. Exclusions apply for damage caused by improper installation, lack of maintenance, or unauthorized repairs.
Warranty registration may be required after purchase. Refer to included documentation for details. Claims require the lift's serial number and must be processed through an authorized service representative.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between upper components and a completion kit?
Upper components include the superstructure, arms, screw pads, and controls, but do not include the power unit or motor. A completion kit bundles the power unit with the upper components. If you already have a standard 2HP motor installed with your EW10 tub and frame, the EW10-UC is what you need. If you need the motor too, look at the EW10CK completion kit instead.
What do I need to have installed before adding upper components?
Your EW10 cassette, frame, dual-cylinder assembly, and standard 2HP power unit must already be set in cured concrete and ready for connection. The upper components mount onto this existing below-ground infrastructure. If you purchased the EW10LS-2 tub and frame with a separate standard power unit, your foundation is configured for this package.
How does the EW10-UC compare to the other upper components packages?
The EW10-UC is the base configuration with standard pedestal controls paired with a 2HP motor for a 41-second rise time. The EW10-UC-QC pairs pedestal controls with the 3HP QuickCycle motor for a 24-second rise. The EW10-UC-BMC adds bench-mount controls for the standard motor. The EW10-UC-BMC-QC combines BMC with QuickCycle. All four share the same superstructure, arms, and 10,000 lb capacity.
Can I upgrade to QuickCycle or bench-mount controls later?
QuickCycle requires a different motor (3HP versus 2HP) and associated hydraulic components installed below ground. Bench-mount controls require workbench integration and different control hardware. If either upgrade is likely, it's more cost-effective to start with the appropriate UC variant. Contact us to discuss upgrade paths for existing installations.
Can I use these upper components with a QuickCycle motor?
The EW10-UC is configured for standard 2HP power unit installations. If your below-ground setup uses a 3HP QuickCycle motor, the EW10-UC-QC upper components package is the correct match, providing the same standard pedestal controls paired with the QuickCycle power configuration. Contact us to confirm compatibility.
Can this lift handle electric vehicles and EV battery service?
Yes. The EW10's 88-inch drive-through clearance is wide enough to lower EV battery packs while maintaining conventional lift functionality. The optional EV Kit (Part #10900) adds low-profile EV-ready foot pads, universal foot pads, 3-inch and 6-inch adapters, and storage racks for safe EV lifting across multiple platforms.
What arm reach and screw pad range does this package provide?
The 3-stage arms provide a reach of 20 to 42 inches, and the double-telescoping screw pads adjust from 4 inches to 6.125 inches in height. This range covers pick-up points on everything from compact EVs to wide-body luxury vehicles and full-size trucks with a 10,000 lb total system capacity at 2,500 lbs per arm.
What colors are available for the superstructure?
The EW10 superstructure is available in Black, Red, or Blue. Confirm your preferred color when placing your order so the correct panels ship with your upper components package. Color selection does not affect specifications or performance.
How are the upper components shipped and what do I need for unloading?
The package ships via flatbed freight truck. You'll receive a tracking number and schedule a delivery appointment with the carrier. A forklift or equivalent equipment is required for unloading, as standard delivery does not include unloading service. Contact us before ordering if you need liftgate or residential delivery options.
What warranty coverage comes with the EW10 upper components?
Challenger provides a limited warranty to the original purchaser. For inground lifts in the 10K-15K range, typical coverage is 1-year labor, 2-year parts, and 5-year structural. The warranty is non-transferable and requires registration. Claims need the lift's serial number and must go through an authorized service representative.
