Challenger EV1020XP9-UC-BMC Upper Components for EV1020 XP9 Inground Car Lift with Bench Mount Controls
The Challenger EV1020XP9-UC-BMC is the Upper Components (UC) package for the EV1020 inground car lift with the XP9 drive-on express service pad and Bench Mount Controls (BMC). This package combines the completion kit and XP9 superstructure into a single order, providing everything needed above the pre-kit foundation to build a complete 9,000 lb capacity express service inground lift. The UC package includes 8-1/2" chrome pistons, chrome non-breathing RAM-style hydraulic cylinders, the 2 HP power unit (41-second rise), bench-mounted raise/lower/lock release controls, the XP9 drive-on express pad with flip-up ramps and 3-position platform length (58" / 66-1/2" / 75"), synchronizing rail, stainless steel air lock release cylinder, center cover plate, and all installation hardware. Requires only the separately purchased CSPK-series pre-kit foundation to complete a full EV1020 XP9 inground lift installation. Upgradeable to QuickCycle (QC) 3 HP motor for faster rise times. ALI/ETL certified and made in Louisville, Kentucky.
Challenger EV1020XP9-UC-BMC Upper Components Features
Complete Upper Components Package
The UC (Upper Components) designation means this package combines two separately available component groups into a single order: the completion kit (chrome pistons, power unit, controls, hydraulic and pneumatic hardware) and the XP9 superstructure (drive-on express pads with flip-up ramps, synchronizing rail, center cover plate). This simplifies procurement by consolidating everything that installs above the pre-kit foundation into one SKU, reducing the risk of ordering mismatched or missing components.
XP9 Drive-On Express Service Pad with Flip-Up Ramps
The XP9 express pad replaces traditional swing arms with a drive-on platform configuration featuring reinforced flip-up ramps that lock in place to extend the platform for longer wheelbase vehicles. With a minimum deck height of 2-3/4" and platform dimensions of 58" / 66-1/2" / 75" x 24" (31-1/2" between platforms), the XP9 eliminates arm positioning entirely. Technicians drive the vehicle onto the pads and go, making this the fastest vehicle loading configuration in Challenger's inground lineup for express lube, oil change, tire rotation, brake work, and inspection operations.
2 HP Electric Hydraulic Power Unit
This package includes the standard 2 HP, 208-230V, single-phase motor that delivers full rise in approximately 41 seconds on a 30A dedicated circuit. For shops where cycle time directly impacts revenue, the QuickCycle (QC) upgrade to a 3 HP motor is available as a separate configuration (EV1020XP9-UC-BMC-QC), reducing rise time to just 24 seconds. Three-phase motor options (208/230/460V) are also available for facilities with 3-phase power.
Bench Mount Controls (BMC)
The BMC designation includes bench-mounted power controls with raise, lower, and lock release functions that mount directly to most major workbench brands. Bench mount controls provide a clean, streamlined control layout that keeps lift operation accessible at the technician's workstation without floor-mounted or wall-mounted control panels taking up valuable bay space. The integrated design creates a professional, organized appearance in express service environments.
8-1/2" Chrome Pistons with Non-Breathing RAM Cylinders
The package includes 8-1/2" diameter chrome pistons housed in chrome non-breathing RAM-style hydraulic cylinders that prevent moisture and contaminants from entering the hydraulic system for longer lift life. The enhanced raised wiper design at the top and bottom of each bearing provides superior grease retention while minimizing debris ingress. The long bearing contact surface provides increased stability under load, and the premium powder coat finish on bolsters delivers long-lasting durability.
Mechanical Safety Lock System
The mechanical lock system engages every 3" throughout the lift stroke, allowing technicians to select the optimal ergonomic working height. The stainless steel air lock release cylinder promotes longer working life with its corrosion-resistant design, ensuring reliable lock engagement and release even in harsh shop environments with exposure to chemicals, moisture, and road grime.
Challenger EV1020XP9-UC-BMC Compatibility
EV1020 Inground Lift System Only
The EV1020XP9-UC-BMC upper components package is engineered exclusively for the Challenger EV1020 inground cassette-style lift platform. It is not compatible with the EV1220, EV1520, EW Series, or competing manufacturers' inground lift systems. Confirm your installed or ordered pre-kit model number before purchasing to ensure compatibility.
Two-Component System
A complete EV1020 XP9 inground lift installation requires two component groups:
- Pre-Kit (CSPK Foundation): The separately purchased cassette pit assembly providing the below-grade sealed recycled polymer tub and structural frame. The pre-kit must be installed with excavation, backfill, and concrete work completed and cured before upper components installation.
- Upper Components (This Product): The EV1020XP9-UC-BMC provides the completion kit (pistons, power unit, BMC controls, hardware) and the XP9 superstructure (drive-on pads, synchronizing rail, cover plate) in a single package.
Note: If you purchased an EV1020XP9-BMC complete lift package, the upper components are already included and this product is not needed. This UC package is for facilities ordering the pre-kit and upper components separately.

Challenger EV1020XP9-UC-BMC Upper Components FAQ
What are Upper Components and how do they differ from a completion kit?
Upper Components (UC) include everything that goes above the pre-kit foundation: the completion kit (8-1/2" chrome pistons, 2 HP power unit, bench mount controls, hydraulic and pneumatic hardware) and the XP9 superstructure (drive-on express pads with flip-up ramps, synchronizing rail, center cover plate) combined in a single order. A completion kit alone includes only the hydraulic and power components without the XP9 superstructure. Ordering the UC package simplifies procurement by consolidating both component groups into one SKU.
What do I still need to purchase separately?
The only additional Challenger component required is the EV1020 CSPK-series pre-kit foundation, which provides the below-grade sealed recycled polymer cassette tub and structural frame. Once the pre-kit is installed in a properly constructed concrete pit, this UC package supplies everything else needed for a complete 9,000 lb inground lift with XP9 express pads. Site infrastructure including concrete work, electrical wiring, compressed air supply, hydraulic hose, and installation labor must also be furnished separately.
What lift system is this package compatible with?
The EV1020XP9-UC-BMC is engineered exclusively for the Challenger EV1020 inground cassette-style lift system. It is not compatible with the EV1220, EV1520, EW Series, or competing manufacturers' inground lift platforms. Confirm your installed or ordered pre-kit model number before purchasing to ensure proper fit and function.
Is a QuickCycle (QC) upgrade available?
Yes. This package includes the standard 2 HP motor with a 41-second rise time. The QuickCycle upgrade (model EV1020XP9-UC-BMC-QC) replaces the 2 HP motor with a 3 HP motor that delivers full rise in 24 seconds. Both configurations run on 208-230V single-phase power with a 30A dedicated circuit. If faster cycle time is a priority for your express service operation, consider the QC model at the time of order.
What are Bench Mount Controls (BMC)?
Bench Mount Controls are power controls with raise, lower, and lock release functions that mount directly to most major workbench brands. BMC keeps lift controls at the technician's workstation for convenient access without requiring a separate wall-mounted or floor-mounted control panel. This creates a cleaner bay layout and more streamlined workflow in express service environments.
What are the XP9 express pad dimensions?
The XP9 platforms are 24" wide with three length positions: 58", 66-1/2", and 75". The distance between platforms is 31-1/2". The minimum deck height (top of deck or bolt) is 2-3/4", low enough for most passenger vehicles to drive directly onto the pads. Reinforced flip-up ramps lock in place to extend the platform and accommodate vehicles with longer wheelbases.
What are the electrical requirements?
The 2 HP motor requires 208-230V, single-phase, 60Hz power on a dedicated 30A circuit with a circuit breaker or time-delay fuse. Three-phase options (208/230/460V) are available for facilities with 3-phase power. The power unit motor must be mounted at least 18" above the finished floor per National Electric Code NFPA70. A licensed electrician must install and verify the electrical supply meets all local codes.
What air supply is required?
The lift requires 90-120 PSI compressed air that is clean, dry, lubricated, and pressure-regulated. The air supply must run through a Filter/Regulator/Lubricator (FLR) within 30 feet of the factory-assembled air valve. Failure to provide properly conditioned air voids the warranty on pneumatic components. Drain water from the air supply daily to prevent contamination of the lock release components.
What concrete is required for the pre-kit installation?
The pre-kit (purchased separately) requires a minimum 4" thick reinforced concrete floor rated at 3,500+ PSI, fully cured for 28+ days. New construction requires a dedicated excavation per the installation manual. Existing facilities require a minimum 6' x 11' block-out or saw cut. The concrete must be finished and fully cured before the upper components in this package can be installed on top of the pre-kit foundation.
Is the completed EV1020 XP9 lift ALI/ETL certified?
Yes. When the EV1020XP9-UC-BMC upper components are properly installed on a Challenger EV1020 CSPK pre-kit foundation, the completed lift system is ALI/ETL certified and designed to the ANSI/ALI ALCTV standard. This certification ensures the lift meets or exceeds industry safety requirements for professional automotive service facilities.
Can I use the completed lift outdoors?
No. The EV1020 XP9 inground lift is rated for indoor use only within an ambient temperature range of 41 to 104 degrees F (5 to 40 degrees C). Outdoor installation is prohibited and will void the warranty. The pre-kit cassette, upper components, and all hydraulic and electrical systems are designed for climate-controlled indoor service environments.
