AFF 854ASD 50 Ton Hydraulic Press - Super Duty Shop Press

When bearing presses, gear pulls, and bushing jobs start stacking up in your bay, you need a 50 ton hydraulic press that doesn't flinch. The American Forge & Foundry 854ASD is a hydraulic press 50 ton built on a fully welded steel frame, giving you the rigid structure and reliable pressing force that production shop work demands. At 50 tons of capacity with a 7 3/4-inch stroke, it handles the jobs that light-duty presses walk away from.

Seven bed height positions mean you're not wrestling the workpiece to fit the machine. The machine fits the work. A lateral head adjuster moves the ram side to side, opening up a working range that covers awkward or off-center jobs without repositioning the entire setup. The heavy duty cable winch makes bed adjustments smooth and effort-free, so you're spending time pressing, not fighting your equipment.

The double pump air motor speeds up cycle times on this heavy duty hydraulic press, so you're not standing around waiting between jobs. A glycerin-filled gauge reads actual pressing force in real time - no guessing, no overloading. The shatter-resistant polycarbonate shield handles the unexpected, and built-in overload protection keeps the machine safe when the job pushes toward its limit. Everything you need to start working is already in the box.

Installation & Setup

The 854ASD ships at 660 lbs., so plan your receiving and positioning before it arrives. A solid, level concrete floor is strongly recommended - this is a production-grade heavy duty hydraulic press machine, and a stable base is non-negotiable at this capacity. You'll need a forklift or pallet jack to move it into position.

The double pump air motor connects to your existing shop air supply. Make sure your compressor and air lines are properly sized to support continuous press operation before your first job. The 7-position bed uses a cable winch for height adjustment - dial it in before the job starts, not mid-run.

The polycarbonate shield should be in place before every press operation. Overload protection is built in, but always confirm your setup and load fall within the 50-ton rated capacity before pressing.

Applications

Bearing and Bushing Work

Press bearings, bushings, and sleeves in and out with precision. The included 10-piece adapter set handles most common pin and bearing configurations without additional tooling.

Gear and Shaft Pressing

Remove and install gears, pulleys, and sprockets on shafts using controlled force from the 50 ton hydraulic press cylinder. No hammering, no guesswork, no collateral damage.

Frame and Structural Straightening

Shops handling collision repair or heavy equipment work rely on the 854ASD for straightening bent frames and structural components where lighter presses can't deliver consistent, repeatable force.

Production Shop and Fleet Maintenance

The air motor and 7-position bed make this a practical garage hydraulic press for fleet operations where jobs repeat and downtime costs money. The 50 ton hydraulic press pump keeps cycles moving without delays.

Model Comparison

The AFF Super Duty Press line runs from 20 to 150 tons. The 854ASD sits at the 50-ton mark - capable enough for most production shop and fleet work without the footprint and freight weight of the larger units. Use the table below to confirm you're picking the right capacity for your application.
