American Forge and Foundry 30 Ton Hydraulic Press - 852ASD Super Duty

When bearing replacements, bushing removals, and shaft straightening are stacking up in your bay, the last thing you need is a press that slows you down. The American Forge and Foundry 852ASD is a 30 ton hydraulic press with fully welded construction and dual air motor operation, built to handle heavy, repetitive work without flinching. At 40 inches wide and 71 inches tall, it fits into a working shop without consuming your entire floor plan.

Speed matters when you're moving through jobs. The double pump air motor drives the ram fast during approach, and when you need precision on final pressure, you switch to the manual handle for slow, deliberate control. The glycerin-filled gauge reads your pressing force accurately the whole time so you're never guessing how hard you're loading the work piece. No overshooting. No second-guessing. This 30 ton air hydraulic press gives you both pace and accuracy in the same unit.

Seven bed height positions mean you're set up for nearly any part size this heavy duty hydraulic press machine encounters. The lateral head adjuster moves the press head side to side for a wider working range without repositioning the work piece. A shatter-resistant polycarbonate shield is standard on every ASD model, giving you and your crew real protection from debris. This is american forge and foundry equipment built to the standard professional shops actually expect.

The 852ASD ships free to the lower 48, and our team is a direct phone call away for anything that comes up before or after the order. That's the kind of backup that matters when you're mid-job and need a quick answer.

What's Included

  • 852ASD 30 Ton Super Duty Press
  • 2-piece press plate set
  • 10-piece pin and bearing press adapter set
  • Shatter-resistant polycarbonate shield
  • Glycerin-filled pressure gauge
  • Foot-operated air control valve

Installation & Setup

The 852ASD ships partially assembled and requires on-site setup before first use. You'll attach the foot section and support brackets to the connecting plates, install the pressure gauge into the gauge fitting with the included nylon ring, and reposition the pump assembly to the outside of the leg. Before operating, anchor the press to the floor with anchor bolts. The installation surface must be firm, level, and adequately lit.

Air Supply Requirements

This press connects to shop air through an NPT 1/4-inch fitting. Your supply line needs to deliver a consistent 108 to 123 PSI (0.75 to 0.85 MPa). Before first use, add a teaspoon of quality air tool lubricant into the air supply inlet, connect to air, and run the motor for about 3 seconds to distribute the lubricant throughout the system.

Hydraulic System Priming

Before the first pressing operation, purge air from the hydraulic system. Open the release valve counterclockwise, connect the foot control to your air supply, and cycle the pump several times until the system is clear. Confirm that all four bed pins are fully seated through the press bed and legs and secured with circlips before loading any work piece.

Applications

The 852ASD fits naturally into any automotive, truck, fleet, or industrial repair environment where pressing, bending, straightening, forming, or holding is part of the daily work. The included 10-piece adapter set means you have the tooling to cover most common jobs the moment the press hits the floor.

Bearing and Bushing Work

Press bearings and bushings in and out cleanly. The adapter set gives you the right fit for most common sizes without sourcing additional tooling separately.

Automotive and Truck Repair

Suspension components, drivetrain parts, and wheel assembly work are where this american forge and foundry hydraulic press earns its place in a professional shop day after day.

Shaft Straightening and Forming

Seven bed positions let you work with a wide range of part lengths. When the load isn't perfectly centered under the ram, the lateral head adjuster brings the head to where you need it.

Assembly and Riveting

Precise force control through the manual handle and live gauge readings make the 852ASD useful for assembly work where applying too much pressure ruins the part.

Frequently Asked Questions

What air pressure does the AFF 852ASD require to operate?

The 852ASD requires shop air at 108 to 123 PSI (0.75 to 0.85 MPa) through a standard NPT 1/4-inch fitting. Make sure your compressor and supply line can deliver consistent pressure in that range. Before first use, add a teaspoon of quality air tool lubricant into the air inlet and run the motor briefly to distribute it through the system.

Does this press require assembly before use?

Yes. The 852ASD ships partially assembled. You'll need to attach the foot section and support brackets to the connecting plates, install the pressure gauge into the gauge fitting with the included nylon ring, and reposition the pump assembly to the outside of the leg. The press must also be anchored to the floor with anchor bolts before first operation. Full assembly instructions are included in the manual.

What accessories are included with the 852ASD out of the box?

The press includes a 2-piece press plate set, a 10-piece pin and bearing press adapter set, and a shatter-resistant polycarbonate shield. The glycerin-filled pressure gauge and foot-operated air control valve are also part of the press assembly as delivered.

Can I apply pressure manually instead of using the air motor?

Yes. The dual air motor handles fast ram travel during approach, but you can switch to the manual handle any time you need slower, more precise pressure application. This is especially useful for delicate parts where dialing in exact force matters. The glycerin gauge gives you real-time feedback either way.
