American Forge & Foundry Axle Jack 547SD - Two-Stage 50/25 Ton Air/Hydraulic

If your shop handles heavy trucks, ag equipment, or commercial fleet vehicles, you know the cost when a jack can't hold up to the work. The American Forge & Foundry axle jack 547SD is a two-stage, air-assisted hydraulic axle jack rated at 50 tons in the low stage and 25 tons in the high stage, and it's built to hold up in the kind of environments where lesser jacks tap out. This is not a light-duty unit dressed up to look tough. It's a commercial-grade American Forge & Foundry air jack made for the jobs that come through the door every day.

The piston head seal design on the 547SD comes straight from industrial hydraulic technology. That means a tighter, more reliable seal at both low and high pressure, so your load stays put without creep. Double polished chromed pistons hold tighter tolerances than standard production jacks, cutting down on oil bypass and protecting the ram from scoring over time. When you're lifting 50-ton axle loads, hold matters.

The 54" (138 cm) handle locks in three positions so you can position this air hydraulic axle jack under tight clearances without contorting around the rig. Integral descent metering keeps the load coming down at a controlled rate. No sudden drops, no guesswork. Air-assisted lowering speeds up ram retraction between lifts so your tech isn't standing there waiting, and the built-in overload safety valve protects the unit if someone pushes it past its rated limit.

What's Included

  • AFF 547SD 50/25 Ton Two-Stage Air/Hydraulic Axle Jack
  • Extension - 75 mm (3")
  • Extension - 45 mm (1.75")
  • Saddle Adapter

Installation & Setup

The 547SD runs on standard shop air. Connect your air supply line to the jack's inlet and verify that your compressor is delivering between 116 and 174 psi before you lift. Running below that range reduces output force. Running above it can trigger the overload valve prematurely.

The single-piece base construction keeps the jack stable on concrete or asphalt shop floors without additional anchoring. Position the jack under the axle, lock the handle into one of its three positions to suit your approach angle, then engage air. The included saddle adapter fits the ram head when you need a broader contact surface. Both extensions thread onto the saddle to add lift height when your clearance demands it.

No permanent installation required. Roll it in, connect air, and lift. If you're unsure about compatibility with your existing air supply setup, call (855) 498-2147 before you order.

Applications

The 547SD is the heavy duty roll on axle jack for shops and yards that run heavy iron every day. Here's where it fits:

Heavy-Duty Trucking

Semi tractors, tandem axle trailers, and Class 7-8 trucks. The 50-ton low-stage capacity handles fully loaded rear axles without flexing under the weight.

Agricultural Equipment

Combines, large tractors, and implements that need full axle access. Farm machinery runs heavy and uneven - this jack holds steady when the ground isn't.

Fleet Maintenance

Cycling through multiple vehicles per shift? Air-assisted retraction keeps your tech moving between lifts. Less waiting, more throughput.

Municipal and Construction

Utility trucks, dump trucks, concrete mixers. Any vehicle with a heavy rear axle load that needs a reliable jack axle solution in a working yard.

Your fleet might span everything from light-duty service vehicles needing a 7-ton heavy duty axle jack all the way up to fully loaded semis demanding 50-ton capacity. The 547SD handles the heavy end of that range. If you're stepping up from a smaller unit like the 2235 air hydraulic axle jack, the dual-stage system on the 547SD is a significant jump in both capacity and control. For shops comparing across the AFF lineup, the 565E covers 22-ton needs, the AFF 544 44-ton air hydraulic axle jack fills the mid-range, and the 547SD sits at the top. When you're weighing this against other 50-ton 2-stage air hydraulic axle jacks on the market, the industrial piston seal design and single-piece base construction are what separate it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What air pressure does the AFF 547SD require to operate?

The 547SD requires 116 to 174 psi of shop air. Verify your compressor can deliver within that range before connecting. Running below the minimum reduces lift force. Running above the maximum may trigger the built-in overload safety valve prematurely.

What extensions come with this jack, and how high can it lift with them installed?

The 547SD includes two extensions - a 75 mm (3") piece and a 45 mm (1.75") piece - plus a saddle adapter. With both extensions installed, maximum lift height reaches 18.82" in the 50-ton low stage and 23.31" in the 25-ton high stage.

What is the minimum clearance needed to get this jack under a vehicle?

The 547SD has a low height of 8.46" in both stages. You'll need at least that much ground clearance under the axle to position the jack before lifting. This measurement applies regardless of which stage you're using.

What is the difference between the low stage and high stage on this jack?

The 547SD operates in two stages. In the low stage, it delivers 50 tons of capacity with a 4.61" ram lift. Once the low stage reaches its limit, the high stage takes over at 25 tons of capacity with an additional 9.09" of ram travel. Total lift height in the high stage reaches 17.56" without extensions, or 23.31" with both extensions installed.

Does this jack ship for free?

Yes. The AFF 547SD ships free to the contiguous lower 48 states. It ships at 165 lbs via freight carrier. Call (855) 498-2147 for estimated delivery times to your location.
