AFF 546SD - 25 Ton and 10 Ton American Forge and Foundry Air Hydraulic Axle Jack
If you're lifting loaded axles on heavy trucks, farm equipment, or running a mixed commercial fleet all day, a standard floor jack isn't part of the conversation. The AFF 546SD from American Forge and Foundry is a two-stage air hydraulic axle jack rated at 25 tons on the first stage and 10 tons on the second, made for the daily punishment of heavy-duty trucking, agricultural, and fleet maintenance environments.
The two-stage design gives you real flexibility on the job. The 25-ton first stage has the muscle to move a loaded tandem axle without hesitation. When you need more lift height at a lower load, the second stage extends the ram further - and with the extensions included in the box, you can push the working height to nearly 21 inches without hunting down adapter parts. Everything ships with the jack.
What separates this from a generic air hydraulic axle jack is how it holds a load. The piston head seal design comes straight from industrial hydraulic technology, which means a better grip under severe weight and far less drift over time. Double-polished chrome pistons maintain tighter tolerances, cutting down oil bypass and the ram scoring that kills cheaper units. Integral descent metering keeps your lowering controlled - no sudden drops when you're working under a loaded axle. A built-in overload safety valve protects the unit if someone miscalculates the capacity.
The 54-inch handle locks into three positions so you can work around frame rails, axle housings, and tight undercarriage obstacles without repositioning the entire jack. It's been tested down to -13°F and up to +113°F, plus off-center loading, so it performs in real conditions - not just ideal ones. Free shipping to the lower 48 and direct phone support before and after your order mean you're covered from purchase to lift. If you're comparing this to the 547SD or sizing up against a 30 ton air hydraulic jack for a heavier application, call us and we'll help you pick the right tool.

Installation & Setup
Air Supply Requirements
The AFF 546SD is an air operated hydraulic axle jack - it needs a shop air connection to run. Your supply line needs to deliver between 116 and 174 psi at the jack inlet. Most shop compressors operate comfortably in that range. Verify your fittings and hose are rated for your working pressure before connecting. Air is used both for powered lifting and for air-assisted ram retraction on the way down.
Positioning and Handle Setup
Set your handle position before rolling the jack under the vehicle. Three lock positions let you approach from whatever angle works around frame crossmembers, fuel tanks, or undercarriage obstacles. The low height on both stages is 7.28" - that's the minimum clearance you need between ground and lift point to get the jack positioned. Measure before you commit.
Extensions and Saddle Adapter
Thread one or both extensions onto the ram before you start lifting if extra height is needed. The saddle adapter gives you a stable contact surface on round or irregular axle housings. Stacking both extensions on Stage 2 brings your maximum working height to 20.59". Don't stack extensions after the load is on the jack - set your configuration before lifting.

Applications
The AFF 546SD is the right tool for shops running hydraulic axle jacks hard, day in and day out. Here's where it fits:
Semi-trucks, heavy-haul trailers, and tandem-axle rigs. The 25-ton first stage handles loaded rear axles without hesitation, and the controlled descent keeps the work safe when you're under a fully loaded trailer.
Tractors, combines, and large implements that sit low and weigh a lot. The single-piece base construction stays stable on dirt, gravel, and uneven shop floors. The temperature ratings mean it performs in the field, not just a climate-controlled bay.
High-turnover fleet shops running axle seals, brakes, and wheel ends back to back all day. Air-assisted retraction speeds up ram reset between lifts. Less downtime between vehicles means more work completed per shift.
Garbage trucks, transit buses, and utility vehicles with uneven weight distribution. This air powered hydraulic jack keeps the lifting controlled even when loads aren't perfectly centered, and the overload valve prevents unit damage when you're moving fast on a busy service schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions
What air pressure does the AFF 546SD require to operate?
This jack requires between 116 and 174 psi of working air pressure. Most standard shop compressors operate comfortably in that range. The air supply powers both the lifting mechanism and the air-assisted ram retraction when lowering the load.
What extensions and accessories are included with the jack?
The AFF 546SD ships with a 75mm (3") extension, a 45mm (1.75") extension, and a saddle adapter - all included at no extra charge. With both extensions stacked on the Stage 2 ram, your maximum working height reaches 20.59".
What is the minimum clearance needed to position this jack under a vehicle?
The low height on both stages is 7.28". You need at least that much clearance between the ground and your lift point to slide the jack into position. Measure your clearance before committing, especially on lowered or heavily loaded vehicles.
Is the AFF 546SD rated for cold-weather or outdoor use?
Yes. The unit has been tested at -13°F (-25°C) on the low end and +113°F (+45°C) on the high end, as well as under off-center loading conditions. It's made for field use and year-round shop environments, not just a climate-controlled garage bay.
What does the warranty cover and how do I make a claim?
American Forge and Foundry covers this jack under a one-year limited warranty for defects in material and workmanship under normal use. To make a claim, ship the unit prepaid with proof of purchase to AFF or an authorized service depot. The warranty does not cover damage from accidents, overloads, or unauthorized modifications. Call (855) 498-2147 for help coordinating a warranty claim.
